How are the eyelids/eyelashes working out so far on this import?

That always seems to be one of the most difficult parts when importing cartoon models into VaM, from what I've seen always. Often when this kind of character blinks, it just extends the black eyelash into the revealed portion of the lid, rather than bringing the correct eye shadow color along with it. That, and I'm also wondering if the eye sockets are as recessed as some of your prior import releases, or if you've managed to solve that issue (can't fully tell from the shot but it looks like maybe you did).

Also, there's the concern with these kinds of exaggerated eyelashes being attached to the right vertices and what not, so they morph correctly on blink (and may even be morphable with native VaM morphs too). In the past I've simply seen people mimic the look with CUAs rather than a proper clothing eyelash, but hopefully you've got the real deal going here.

Regardless though, it looks pretty amazing in the screen shot. I wonder if I'll have restored my PC setup by the time it's publicly available.

Right now the eyelids/eyelashes are just clothing items posed in different positions (open/neutral/halfway/closed). They’re kept in place by sneakily changing the character’s scalp to be “normal sized” and attaching to the verts there. I haven’t figured out a viable solution to manually control them with morphs yet, since VaM will turn it into mush otherwise. There’s an eye plane under the irises, but it still needs work as VaM only works with “spherical” eye movement, so clipping will happen (Including with the eyelids too).

And yeah I'm definitely aware of the recessed eye sockets in a lot of my adaptions, which happens when I need to reposition the eyes so they don't clip through the eyelids. The built-in eye close morphs don't really account for large, round eyes frequently found on most cartoony/anthro characters. I'll likely have to make further adjustments to the eye shape in Blender so it'll happen less.

I haven't heard anything from the commissioner in a while, so development is currently paused until then. Worst case scenario I'll see if anyone else is willing to cover, since this seems to have caught some attention.👀

It's a shame no hero programmers ever ended up continuing Pineapler's old/abandoned "sliding anime iris" plugin. If that has been perfected it might have solved many (if not all) issues with these kinds of cartoon eye shapes in VaM.
